Well, that was a long hiatus...

Life has been so crazy in the Dalton household! David is back in classes (will be done in 5 short weeks YAY!!!!), so it's back to being a single mom (not really, but that's how it often feels). So, the blog took a hit. But, I'm back… for now... Hopefully I can continue on a semi-daily basis!

Gunnar fell asleep during Dumbo... So cute :)

Project 365 Days 27 & 28

The past two weeks have been anything short of miserable in our house.  We have all, with the exception of David, been very sick. thankfully,  we all seem to be getting better. Levi is still having issues sleeping at night, which has made for several near sleepless nights for mommy. The lack of sleep has been taken its toll on my body. I have had a horrible headache for a couple days now, I have zero energy, and zero motivation to get much of anything done around the house...

...But the only thing I can think of is how blessed we actually are. Our children are healthy with no chronic illnesses, we have a roof over our heads, food to eat (even if that food may not be exactly what we want, we don't go hungry), an amazing church, and the support of family and friends who love us dearly. How can I complain about my lack of sleep and mildly ill children when so many others are suffering much more than we are? God has been faithful to us even at times when we have lacked in faith.

2011 was a tough year financially for us. It has been a year of trials and struggles. BUT God has continually shown us He is there and will provide our needs. He has brought an amazing couple into our lives to help guide us through difficult times. How truly blessed we are!

My sweet Gunnar is really beginning to show a lot of personality recently. He is so very silly, and seeks out attention in this manner. He has the sweetest smile that he does EVERY time I pull out my camera/iPhone. It's so stinkin cute! He scrunches up his entire face and gives me this big toothy grin that just melts my heart. Oh how I love him :)

Project 365 Day 24 & 25

So, I had to take Levi back to the Dr today, as today is day 8 that he has run fever of 101+... And, we have officially moved him into his own bedroom and out of ours! Praying that this is what needed to happen to get him sleeping through the night again! That's all I got today... So sleepy! I promise, tomorrow will be a longer post!

Project 365 Days 21 & 22

Spent much of yesterday evening at Hillcrest in the ER with Levi. All to find out that he had croup and bronchiolitis (which I already knew...) just that his symptoms were worse than they had been... Ugh poor baby :-(

Project 365 Day 17

Yesterday I posted Jack had croup. Today, my two other children have it as well. All things considered, they are doing well. They are happy, not so energetic, but happy! I take that as a good sign! Jack's appetite has improved, Gunnar's has decreased. So, as you probably gather, I'm busy and don't have time to write anything else! So, I'll leave you with Jack making his own peanut butter graham crackers.

Project 365 Day 16

Okay, so, remember this post? The one where I bragged about how Jack NEVER gets sick? Can you guess where I'm going with this? If not, I'll just spell it out. Jack started feeling kinda lousy over the weekend  and just began to spiral down as time went on. So, this afternoon, it was off to the doctor's office! Daddy even took off work early so mommy wouldn't have to take all the boys to the pedi's office alone! Thanks hun! Come to find out, Jack has croup, which probably means all three of my boys will wind up with it over the next week or so, BUT we are praying against that!

Project 365 Day 13

Today, Jack & Gunnar had their yearly well child visits. This time of year always finds me a tad bit emotional. While I'm happy they are healthy, and staying right on track, if not a bit ahead of said track, I'm simply reminded how quickly they are growing up and their childhood years are slipping away.

Jack has *knock on wood* NEVER had any illnesses worse than a simple cold. He has never been on an antibiotic. We've never taken him to the ER, which is surprising considering he is a wild and rambunctious 4 year old! I do NOT take that blessing for granted. I thank God everyday for keeping my children healthy.

Gunnar has only been on antibiotics one time. It was for a mild ear infection. In January of last year, he tore the small flap of skin that connects the inner part of the upper lip to the upper jaw, which bled and bled and BLED! That scared this mommy an awful lot! Thank goodness he ended up being just fine! Then, back at the end of this summer, Gunnar developed a fever which caused him to feel great amounts of pain when he was moved or put any weight on his legs. That was also scary for me. Thankfully, all tests they ran came back negative, and he was sent home with instructions to administer Tylenol and Advil to help with his pain. Other than that, no illnesses! PTL!

Today, Jack weighed in at 41lbs (84th%) and was 41 1/2 in (73rd%). Gunnar weighed in at 29lbs (62nd%) and was 35 1/2 in (75th%). Once again, growing up way too quickly!!

Thank goodness for PaPa who took time out of his day to help me at the doctor's office with the boys!

Project 365 Day 12

My camera battery is dead... Boo :(

So, my iPhones camera will have to do until I can get to the grocery store to get new ones!

Plus, it's late, and I'm sleepy. So a simple picture will have to suffice this evening. I'll have more to say when my body has gotten some rest!

My hunny boo

Project 365 Day 9

Mondays are typically my lazy days. I usually spend them just being with my kids. I don't cook, the kids just eat what we have in our fridge. I don't clean, unless something spills and a quick cleanup is necessary. I probably should rework my priorities and add some things to my Mondays, but, I don't want to! I thoroughly enjoy them! Not because they're lazy days, but because of the time I spend with my boys.

This morning, my dad came over. He does this a few times a week. The boys adore their PaPa! I do believe the feeling is mutual. They love playing hide & seek together, building puzzles, playing with his iPhone, playing with his Indiana Jones style hat, pretty much about anything!

Today, the boys made a HUGE mess in their bedrooms. Like, emptied nearly all of their toys onto the floor kind of mess. Just insanity. I'll let the pictures tell the tale... Sorry about the quality of the pictures, they were taken with no flash because my camera battery was nearly dead

How many pictures does it take to capture the budding teeth of an 8 month old??

Project 365 Day 6

As a stay at home mom, a typical day around our house is usually characterized by mix and match clothing (unless an outing is in order), Cars, Baylor hats, puzzles, a craft or two, etc.

One of my "resolutions", although I hesitate to call it a resolution, more like a goal, is to incorporate more preschool crafts/projects/work into our everyday lives. One of the Christmas presents my kiddos received was a puzzle with the 50 states. Jack has already learned several of the states. This never really occured to me to start working with him on.

There is so much that the boys need to learn! I.E. Days of the week, months of the year, how to tell time, difference between right and left, geography, math skills, etc. etc. etc. As their mother, I want to teach them as much of this as I can before I send each of them to school. It brings my heart great joy to teach them and see them process and begin to put 2 & 2 together, so to speak. I love instilling knowledge and watching them apply it to their lives. I see this in Jack quite often and am beginning to see it in Gunnar as well.

In general, the boys are very happy and well behaved. Of  course, they each have their moments where life is just coming to a halt because Jack has the Lightning McQueen that Gunnar wants, or Gunnar has Mater that Jack wants (hehe). They love to play Cars, as I have stated before. We have an insane amount scattered in every nook and cranny of our house! They also thrive on routine and schedule. Take away the schedule, especially Gunnar or Levi's, and things quickly fall apart!

Project 365 Day 4

My life forever changed on December 13, 2007 when Jack entered this world. He was a 7lbs 3oz bundle of joy whom I can't imagine life without. Jack was the EASIEST baby! He was incredibly easy going and rarely ever cried when left in the nursery at church. He slept through the night at 2 months, would eat anything that came near his mouth, all until he was around 9 months old but that is another story for another day! He was an early walker at 9 1/2 months. Jack has a free spirit and loves to run, dance and spin in circles. His obsession is anything Cars. Anything. Our house is overrun with them, but I don't mind. He has his passions and I can appreciate that :) To say Jack is strong willed would be an understatement. Jack knows what he wants and will fight tooth and nail to get it. My husband and I are working to channel that into productivity. Jack is as smart as a whistle! He easily picks up on anything he hears. He knows his alphabet, phonics, how to count to 20 (I'm working with him to learn to count to 100), colors, has an endless vocabulary, and countless other things. How I love this little boy!

I think this picture captures Jack's free spirit. He's always so goofy and has the funniest things to say.

Project 365 Day 3

Today, Levi is 8 months, 5 days old. He has one tooth that came in only a week ago. He eats ANYTHING that comes near his mouth. I estimate that he weighs around 22lbs. He is a chunk and this mommy loves his rolls :) He is a little wiggle worm, but loves to give huge hugs! He started crawling over this weekend, and is all over the place! I love to kiss his little toes, fat belly, and chubby cheeks. He is very much a mommy's boy, and already experiences separation anxiety when separated from me. He is an exclusive nurser and flat out refuses a bottle with everything in him! I love this chunky monkey so much!

My First Post and Project 365 Days 1 & 2

As a devoted blog "reader/stalker" I decided it was time to document my own family's journey through life. It's January 2nd, 2012, and my children's milestones have been only minimally recorded. Hey, it's never too late to start right?? I hope not... Much of this may just be rambling for my own pleasure, so feel free to skim unless I ask you not too :)

Anyway, I am committing to Project 365 and am hoping to ACTUALLY complete it, we'll see about that :)
I'm not sure where P365 started, so if anyone knows, please let me know so I may give them credit. So, since I missed the first day, I'll post two pictures today!

The first is one of all four of my kiddos, whom I will post about individually at a later time. I was able to fairly easily get a picture of all four kids smiling at the same time! Isn't this something every parent of more than one child considers gold?? I know I do :) Now this is unedited, so forgive me please! I'll get the hang of this eventually!

The next photo is a little blurry as it was taken on my iPhone. But, it fully embodies my Gunnar's happiness. You see, Gunnar absolutely LOVES his PaPa (my dad). He speaks constantly about him, all day, every day. He thoroughly enjoys every minute they spend together, and drinks it all in. I am thankful for the relationship they share.
